Frequently asked questions
Is Cuentica free?
Yes. There are no ads, no subscriptions and no account to create. Cuentica Premium is an optional one-time purchase that adds the CSV export and iCloud sync.
What does Premium include?
Export to CSV: every movement in one file you can open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets (Menu › Export to CSV). iCloud Sync: your accounts, movements, schedules, budget and shopping lists on your iPhone and iPad (Menu › iCloud Sync). You pay once and keep it, and you can share it with your family through Family Sharing.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Menu › Cuentica Premium and tap Restore Purchases. On a new device, the first page of the welcome tour also offers “Already Use Cuentica? Restore from iCloud”, which restores Premium and brings your data from iCloud instead of setting the app up again.
Where are my data kept? Do they sync between devices?
Everything you enter stays on your device. With Premium and Menu › iCloud Sync turned on, it's also kept in your own private iCloud database and stays the same on every device signed in to your Apple Account. Turning sync off keeps everything on the device. Your data is also included in your device backups (iCloud Backup, or a backup on your computer). Deleting the app deletes the data on that device.
I had the app set up on two devices before turning on sync. What happens?
Both are merged: everything from both devices is kept, and accounts and categories with the same name become one. When two accounts are merged, the older one's starting balance is kept.
Where do the exchange rates come from?
Rates are public reference rates from the Frankfurter service. When your main currency is the US dollar or the bolívar, the bolívar uses the official rate published by the Banco Central de Venezuela. Rates update in the background several times a day; to update them now, open Menu › Currencies and pull down. In a shopping list you can also enter the rate the store used.
How do I add a movement by voice?
Tap the microphone next to + and say what happened, for example “I spent 20 dollars on groceries with my card”. The form fills itself in, and nothing is saved until you check it and tap Save. Voice entry understands English and Spanish, and what you say is transcribed on your iPhone.
How does product scanning work?
In a shopping list, tap Scan Product and point the camera at a label or price tag, or pick a photo. The name and price it reads are filled in for you to check. The camera image and photos are read on your iPhone and never uploaded.
How do I add the widgets?
Touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit › Add Widget and search for Cuentica. Overview, Accounts, This Month and Budget are available, and some also work on the Lock Screen.
How do I start over?
Open Menu and tap Clear All Data. Your accounts, movements, categories, schedules, budget and shopping lists are deleted; currencies are kept. While iCloud sync is on, they're deleted on all your devices. This can't be undone. The welcome tour then opens so you can set things up again. You can also replay the tour at any time from Menu › Welcome Tour.
